Macknade Cricket Club is Faversham's leading Cricket Club. Formed in October 1935 by workers from Macknade Farm on the Selling Road, and before WW2 the farm's sports and social club played cricket near Salters Lane and Football nearer Selling Road. After the War the areas where the sports were played were swapped, The Shepherd Neame Stadium on Salters Lane being the home of Faversham Town Football Club and the current Macknade Cricket Ground taking it's place in front of Macknade Manor. As the number of farm workers decreased the club opened up it's door's to cricketers from the Faversham area and began to offer Saturday League cricket. A colts side was added and this led to the formation of a colts section playing age group league cricket.
The Club gained ECB Clubmark status on Friday 27 October 2006 the award shows the clubs commitment to safeguarding children and reaccreditation takes place every three years.
In 2007 the club was a national showcase club for the ECB NatWest CricketForce event.
2010 saw the Saturday 1st XI promoted as Kent League Divison 5 champions and the second eleven gaining promotion as champions from the Kent regional League to the Kent League.
2011 the 2nd XI scored another promotion to Kent League Division 4, Under15's and Under18's both won their Swale Development League divisions.
